Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv on the evening of October 26, killing one person and injuring ten. The attack targeted the Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, damaging two medical facilities and a student residence. Explosions were heard shortly after the Air Force issued a warning at 21:41 regarding a threat from Bryansk.
The impact of the strike caused immediate physical damage to critical infrastructure. In the Dniprovskyi district, a blast wave shattered windows in the intensive care unit of a medical facility. Windows were also broken in two departments at another hospital in the same area. Although the building in a non-residential zone was hit, no patients or medical staff were injured in those specific incidents.
Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, confirmed a strike near a metro station in the Desnianskyi district. He later reported that a 20-year-old woman was injured near a student accommodation building that sustained damage. Two emergency medical workers, including a paramedic and a technician, were also hurt while responding to the scene. Their injuries were not considered critical.
Initial reports indicated that people might be trapped inside a residential building in the Desnianskyi district. The number of injured individuals rose from five at 22:41 to ten by 23:24. Most of the casualties were students living in the university accommodation.
The City Military Administration confirmed the damage to the educational institution's housing. The attack originated from missiles heading toward the capital from Chernihiv Oblast. One victim was killed near a supermarket following the strike on the non-residential building.
