Cody Johnson and Brothers Osborne released a new duet titled 'Born and Raised Hell' on Friday. The song serves as the lead single from the band's fifth studio album, Watertown, which dropped on October 23. The track highlights a reunion between the Texas artist and the Maryland-based duo.
The collaboration marks a return to a previous partnership. Johnson and the Osborne brothers first worked together earlier this year on the song 'Fool Proof' for his album Banks of the Trinity. For this new project, the group focused on themes of nostalgia and hometown pride. The lyrics recall childhood mischief and the memories that persist long after leaving one's birthplace.
The album contains 11 tracks in total. It draws inspiration from the artists' roots in Deale, Maryland. The music reflects the specific experiences and upbringing that shaped John and TJ Osborne. The new single was written by John Osborne, Lee Miller, and Kendell Marvel.
A music video for the song is currently available to the public. Director Nick Swift filmed the footage in Nashville. The video has a vintage aesthetic. It shows the three performers in a garage setting. Interspersed with the performance are scenes depicting youthful adventures.
Radio stations are scheduled to begin playing 'Born and Released Hell' on November 2. Fans can listen to the track immediately through standard music platforms. The official video is also live online. The release follows the full album launch from three days earlier.
