Tampa Bay venues offer five distinct music events this week.
The lineup spans genres from funk to jazz and includes two Halloween-themed parties. All events are scheduled for the upcoming weekend, with the final performance concluding on Sunday evening. Ticket prices range from free to $120 depending on the venue and artist.
The week opens Thursday evening at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa. Clownvis Presley performs at 8 p.m. Described as the King of Clowns, he is an Elvis Presley impersonator who incorporates stand-up comedy and magic tricks into his set. LA Weekly previously described his performance as better than the real Elvis. The artist has appeared on America’s Got Talent. Tickets cost $20 and the show is open to audiences aged 21 and older.
Friday brings a tribute to the video game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog. The Sonic Live in Concert show runs at 8 p.m. at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. The performance marks the 35th anniversary of the franchise. A live ensemble of rock musicians, electronics, and vocalists plays instrumental versions of songs from the Genesis era through the present. Ticket prices range from $35 to $120.
Saturday features two Halloween events. The Ale and the Witch in St. Petersburg hosts a 7:15 p.m. show by Uncle John’s Band. The group is a Grateful Dead tribute act that has performed in the Tampa Bay area for 37 years. Admission is free. In Gulfport, Ajeva plays two sets at the Blueberry Patch from 8 to 11 p.m. The band blends funk, experimental rock, and jamtronica. They have shared stages with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and The Disco Biscuits. General admission tickets are $20.
The Halloween night lineup continues in Tampa at The RITZ Ybor. British techno DJ Eli Brown performs from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. He is known for a high-energy blend of techno and house music. Costumes are encouraged for the 21-and-over crowd. Tickets are $38.
The week ends Sunday with a jazz concert at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center. Bassist Alejandro Arenas performs Mixtura from 3 to 5 p.m. The new concert features his original compositions and arrangements. An all-star band of fellow U.S. immigrants joins him on stage. Tickets range from $20 to $28.
