Chet Holmgren will spend the next two months on the sideline with a right knee injury. The Oklahoma City Thunder center is expected to miss between eight and ten weeks after receiving biological treatment for a small tear in his patellar tendon. Holmgren began feeling discomfort in his knee on Sunday and consulted multiple specialists before undergoing the procedure on Friday.

The absence leaves the Thunder without a key defensive presence during a difficult stretch. The team already knows it will play without Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for the remainder of the regular season. Williams suffered a broken left fibula and a dislocated left ankle on Sunday. He has already had surgery and will be re-evaluated before the season ends.

Wallace also had surgery on Friday for a labral tear in his left shoulder. The operation took place at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the procedure while Thunder medical staff were present. The guard will also be assessed again before the regular season concludes.

The Thunder are part of a wider wave of early-season injuries affecting the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves announced earlier this week that Anthony Edwards would undergo an arthroscopic procedure for right knee discomfort. The three-time All-Star is expected to sit out for up to two months.

The Thunder face a challenging schedule as they manage these long-term absences. Holmgren's injury adds to the team's burden of missing three prominent players simultaneously. The organization has confirmed all three players will receive further medical evaluations as the season progresses.
