Business owners and professionals in Texas and across the South Central region can now access a new digital tool designed to handle complex workloads. Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, an application that functions as an autonomous agent rather than a simple chatbot. This launch marks a shift in how everyday users interact with artificial intelligence, moving from conversational prompts to delegated tasks. The app is currently available on iOS and Android devices, as well as through the web interface for Pro and Max subscribers. Access is restricted to a research preview phase, requiring users to join a waitlist to gain entry.
The competitive landscape for AI assistants has intensified significantly over the past year. New products have emerged weekly, each vying for user attention. Anthropic enters this crowded market with a specific focus on the professional sector. The company aims to differentiate its offering from personal assistants that handle errands or social tasks. Instead, the new tool targets small businesses and individuals who need help managing data and workflows. It seeks to compete directly with established players like Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, and Grok Bot.
The development of this specific agent reflects a broader industry trend. The market is shifting away from basic assistants toward systems that can work on a user's behalf. Many competitors are also pivoting toward business use cases. For example, Meta has released a version of its assistant tailored for small businesses with app integrations. OpenAI has similarly emphasized professional tool connections. Anthropic’s strategy follows this pattern but with a distinct operational model that separates business logic from personal life management.
Users should understand that this tool is not designed for personal errands. Anthropic explicitly states that the agent is not built for booking tickets or handling casual requests. It also does not provide a live view of its browser activity. Instead, it focuses on creating daily briefings and generating dashboards. The system analyzes user data to suggest specific actions. It operates in the background using a virtual machine, allowing the user to continue with other work. The agent will only return to the user when it requires approval for a specific step.
The underlying technology relies on the Claude Opus 5.5 model. This foundation enables the agent to connect with over 6,000 plugins and connectors available in the Claude Marketplace. This extensive connectivity allows it to interact with a wide range of third-party services. The system can also execute online purchases on behalf of the user. It supports transactions through Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay. This capability allows for automated spending within defined parameters.
Security measures are a central part of the design. Anthropic has implemented a new classifier that scans every message to prevent sensitive data leaks. By default, the agent will decline requests that ask for credit card numbers or government identification. While it can handle payments, it requires explicit user approval for these sensitive steps. The agent will not trade securities or move money between different bank accounts without permission. This structure aims to balance automation with financial control.
The availability of the app is currently limited to the research preview stage. Users must sign up for a waitlist to access the platform. The release is targeted at Pro and Max customers who already have subscriptions. This phased approach allows the company to gather feedback before a wider rollout. The focus remains on helping professionals automate routine management tasks. As the waitlist process continues, more users in the region will likely gain access in the coming weeks.
