30 October. This is when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Atlanta to lead the Russian delegation at the G20 foreign ministers' meeting. The two-day gathering concludes on 31 October and serves as a precursor to the group's leaders' summit.

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russia's Foreign Ministry, confirmed the travel plans. She noted that the G20 is currently operating under American presidency. The timing of the visit is critical because US President Donald Trump expects to speak with Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the subsequent leaders' summit.

Zakharova indicated that Washington did not fully welcome the Russian presence. She pointed to the handling of American visas for Russian delegates by the US Embassy in Moscow as the primary source of tension. Most organizational questions regarding the delegation's stay were settled only at the last minute. She described the visa process as creating an impression of reluctance among US officials.

The agenda for the Atlanta talks focuses on geopolitical challenges that undermine the global economy. Zakharova stated that participants will discuss conflicts and confrontational trends. She argued that the global economy cannot be analyzed without examining these destructive geopolitical developments. Russia plans to promote its vision for a multipolar world during the sessions.

This vision relies on principles from the United Nations Charter. Zakharova cited respect for national sovereignty and the development of equal, mutually beneficial cooperation as core components of Russia's proposed framework. The ministry views these discussions as a necessary step before the leaders' summit.

The diplomatic activity follows an invitation from Washington for Putin to attend the G20 summit in Miami in December. The Kremlin stated that Russia appreciates this invitation but will decide later whether the leader will travel. Trump said on 17 October that he did not know if Putin would attend. Five days later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will be represented at the highest level at the Florida summit if Trump issues an invitation.
