Showers are likely to fall in the San Antonio area on four separate days this week, according to the National Weather Service. The best chances for rain are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, when more than half the region could see precipitation.

The weather pattern has shifted to bring moisture to the area. Rain is possible Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Flash flooding cannot be completely ruled out for the midweek days, though forecasters expect the outlook to clarify as the week progresses. A statement from the National Weather Service noted that isolated showers might persist into Friday night and Saturday. Dry weather is expected to return for Saturday night through Monday.

Halloween, falling on a Saturday this year, will see a very slight chance of showers. Any rain is forecast to end by nightfall. Temperatures during trick-or-treat hours should reach the mid-70s. The weekend is expected to be warmer than midweek, with less cloudiness and mainly dry conditions.

Rainfall totals at San Antonio International Airport have reached nearly 30 inches since January 1. This figure stands two inches above the historical average for this time of year. Bexar County has recently moved back into drought conditions following a wet July and the remnants of Hurricane Polo in September.

Mild temperatures will characterize the week. Highs will hover just above or below 80 degrees, while early morning lows will sit in the 60s. October marks the beginning of fall weather for San Antonio, with an increasing number of cold fronts arriving this month and next.

Weather records indicate that the city's first freeze usually occurs around Thanksgiving, give or take a few days on either side of the holiday.
