Odds makers have set Canelo Alvarez at 330 to 100 to defeat Christian Mbilli in Saturday's super middleweight title fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The betting lines reflect Alvarez's status as the heavy favorite, despite his recent history and the physical advantages held by the champion.

Alvarez, 39, has not entered a title fight as the underdog since May 2022. That bout was a loss to Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight belt. Since then, Alvarez has compiled a record of 63 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws with 39 knockouts. His only defeat in this stretch came in September 2025, a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. That fight stripped Alvarez of one of his super middleweight titles, which he now seeks to reclaim.

Mbilli, 29, owns a record of 29 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw with 24 knockouts. He won the WBC interim title in June 2025 and defended it in a split draw against Lester Martinez in September 2025. The WBC elevated Mbilli to full champion in January after stripping Crawford of the belt. Mbilli is 1 inch taller and holds nearly 2 inches of reach advantage over Alvarez.

CompuBox data reveals stark stylistic differences between the two fighters. Mbilli averages 78 punches thrown per round in recent major fights, a figure 27 higher than the super middleweight division average of 51. Alvarez is far more economical, averaging 35.1 punches per round. Mbilli lands 26.6 power punches per round, while Alvarez lands 8.8. Both fighters land a higher percentage of their power punches than the division average of 36.1%, with Mbilli at 46.1% and Alvarez at 44.9%.

Defensive metrics further distinguish the contenders. Alvarez's opponents land only 5.3 power punches per round against him, a figure that ranks eighth best among current super middleweight champions and contenders. Mbilli's opponents, however, landed 49% of their power punches against him in his most recent bout. Alvarez's opponents have landed just 31.2% of their power punches against him, the sixth best defensive percentage in the division.

The fight is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on DAZN Pay Per View. It marks the first meeting between the two boxers, who have 98 professional fights combined and zero common opponents. The bout will be Alvarez's 29th major title fight and Mbilli's first defense of the full world championship.
